Temporal Conditions For The Use Of EnMAP Data For Emergency Response Services
Abstract
This work presents an analysis of the temporal conditions regarding the use of EnMAP (a German hyperspectral satellite mission to be operated from 2017) data in an emergency response service. The Emergency Response Service implemented within the GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) program points out the timeframe in which data products can be provided after the reception of data. The question for the decision makers, though, is how fast data products can be provided after the event of the disaster. This work overcomes this information deficit for the EnMAP mission, as the operational sequences from a temporal point of view are provided from the EnMAP Ground Segment's perspective. This time is composed of the amount of time needed for the different processes and include: - the limiting parameters from the mission's side, which include orbit parameters as well as instrument and bus parameters, - the ordering and the commanding of the satellite, - the actual acquisition of the scene and the downlink, - the processing and archiving of the standardized, atmospherically - the processed data products can further use. Each of the above processes is discussed in detail with a stress on their temporal perspective. A brief conclusions section recapitulates the results and points out the minimum and maximum time elapsing between the event of the disaster and the delivery of the data, upon which further data products for the Emergency Response Service of GMES can be derived.
