Simulation of coulomb explosion of metals
Abstract
Coulomb explosion of a metal exposed to an intense picosecond laser pulse is numerically simulated using a plasma layer as an example. It is shown that plasma electrons leave the plasma layer under the action of the ponderomotive force opposing the laser radiation field gradient, whereas plasma ions fly away in the field of the self-space charge.
