TES observations of the North American pollution outflow in summer 2006
Abstract
During summer 2006, TES observed a large number of ozone, carbon monoxide and water vapor latitudinal cross sections over the northern midlatitudes between 130W to 15E. We will interpret these measurements in terms of pollution transport from North America to Europe using meteorological and chemical data as well as a global chemistry transport model (GEOS-Chem). The impact of convective transport, lightning and stratospheric intrusions on enhanced upper tropospheric ozone over the Southeastern United States will also be investigated.
