Watson, Ohio State University, write that a spectrogram (range 390-730 nm) of SN 2005kd (CBET 285), taken on Nov. 13.3 UT with the MDM 2.4-m telescope (+ CCDS), shows it to be a young type-IIn supernova. The spectrum shows a blue continuum and strong hydrogen Balmer (H_alpha, H_beta, H_gamma, and H_delta) and He I lines in emission, at central wavelengths fully consistent with the recession velocity of PGC 14370 (4509 km/s, from de Vaucouleurs et al. 1991, Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies, Springer Verlag; via NED). The profile of the H_alpha line is well fitted by two gaussians with FWHM = 640 and 2310 km/s.
