The impact of a permanent dual-frequency GPS receiver at Marion Island on atmospheric remote sensing data
Abstract
During April 2004 a team from HartRAO's Space Geodesy Programme visited Marion Island and temporarily installed a dual-frequency GPS receiver on the island. This presentation illustrates the impact of obtained GPS data on measurements of the tropospheric PWV (precipitable water vapour) and ionospheric TEC (total electron content) over the Southern Ocean where there is a very poor distribution of GPS stations.
