Magnetization of single crystalline strontium ruthenate under uniaxial-pressure
Abstract
In order to extract the intrinsic magnetic correlations in Sr2RuO4, we have performed magnetization measurements under uniaxial pressures (p<0.4 GPa) normal to the two-dimensional RuO2 plane. The single crystalline sample grown by a floating-zone method has been used. The results indicate that the magnetization remains paramagnetic up to the maximum pressure without showing any sign of substantial magnetic transitions. Larger pressure is probably necessary to induce ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic ordering associated with the nature of superconductivity.
