Modeling of K-shell and L-shell X-ray spectra from nichrome and conichrome X pinch plasmas
Abstract
X pinch experiments using Nichrome and Conichrome wires were implemented at the Cornell XP and Cobra facilities. The spatially resolved, time integrated X-ray line spectra have been recorded using different crystal spectrometers. In particular, K-shell and L-shell x-ray line spectra from Cr, Co, and Ni X pinches have been recorded through different filters in the same shot from the two different wire alloys. Non-LTE collisional-radiative atomic kinetic models of Ni and Co were developed earlier to identify the useful L-shell diagnostic features and, in addition, have been modified to include K-shell radiation. The results of this modeling are presented and the interpretation of Cr, Co, and Ni K-shell and L-shell radiation from Nichrome and Conichrome alloy X pinches are compared and discussed.
