Modeling filtered turbulent flow over complex rough surface
Abstract
Large eddy simulation method based on explicitly filtered equations in the filtered flow field is proposed for turbulent flow over complex and rough surface. The sub-filter scale motion and the boundary shape are modeled using a dynamic procedure by evaluating the effects of the resolved motion and the resolved boundary shape. The method provides a unified approach of filtering the flow and the boundary on the same basis. Test calculation of flows over flat rough surface and wavy rough surface has been conducted. The results indicate that models for the boundary condition and the sub-filter roughness must be chosen ppropritely.
