A Composite Ozone Profile for Mid-Latitudes
Abstract
We present composite Ozone profiles for the altitude range 10 to 75 km, compiled with ground-based observations between 1995 and 2000 at the European stations Bordeaux, Observatoire de Haute-Provence, Bern, and Payerne. The construction of such a composite profile was one of the objectives of the COSE project. The different instruments (mm-radiometer, ozone sondes, lidars) and observing techniques are presented and the data analysis and error handling are discussed. The time averaged vertical profiles are given, keeping the original retrieval altitude grids and resolutions for each station (the altitude resolution ranges from typically 30 m in the troposhere to 15 km in the stratosphere). A composite ozone profile for each month is complied from all observations and compared to the CIRA86 profile.
