Ozone Variability In The High-latitude Summer Stratosphere
Abstract
The chemistry and transport of ozone and other active trace species in the summer polar stratosphere are investigated using a combination of model studies and obser- vations. The later comprise ground-based Brewer and lidar ozone measurements from Andoya (69N), and FTIR measurements from NyAlesund (80N). The analysis of these ground-based observations taken in the summer 2000 is complemented by the use of the satellite ozone measurements from the GOME instrument.
We examine the nature of fluctuations in column abundance of key constituents, and ozone chemical loss processes in the summertime northern high latitudes. The chemi- cal characteristics and history of air parcels arriving at Andoya or NyAlesund are also examined using a Lagrangian trajectory model.- Publication:
