High density plasma confinement in the GAMMA 10 Tandem Mirror
Abstract
The plasma confinement with the plug and thermal barrier potentials has been advanced with the conducting plates installed in the anchor transition regions [1] and axisymmetrization of the heating patterns of ECRH [2]. High density plasma experiments were much advanced by application of high harmonic ion cyclotron range of frequency waves to plasma production [3]. A high density plasma was attained up to the density of 4x1012 cm-3 without degradation of the diamagnetic signal by reinstallation of the conducting plates. Dependencies of the particle and energy confinement times and confining potential on plasma densities are obtained for the first time in the high density region. [1] K.
