CCD observations of Chiron 2060
Abstract
Chiron 2060 is an active and large member of Centaurus family. Their high variability make a Chiron a interesting object for optical monitoring. We carry out CCD observations of Chiron in 1997, in the standard bands V, R, I, and also interferential filters of C2 , CN and H3O+. The observations from CASLEO telescope, shown magnitude variations of Chiron respect to previous measurements, and the surface brightness indicate that is an extended and redder object, probably with an atmosphere. A discussion of optical properties in the diferent optical bands is made.
