A primeval galaxy just round the corner: its properties and possible cosmological implications.
Abstract
The authors present several lines of arguments that the blue compact dwarf galaxy SBS 0335-052 is a galaxy that formed its first stars during the last few million years. They describe briefly the new observational data on an unusual structure of the associated H I gas, new optical spectroscopy of the associated dwarf emission galaxy, and estimate the rôle of the dark matter (DM) halo in this system. The importance of this galaxy for cosmology is discussed with emphasis on the problem of DM structure in dwarf galaxies in the framework of current CDM models.
