Electron Temperature Evolution in a Gas-Puff Z-Pinch Measured by X-ray Ross Filter Technique
Abstract
Soft X-ray Ross filters of (Al, Si), (S, KF), and (LiCl, KF) using the K absorption edges were carefully designed to allow for fast Te determination from the spectrum slope by measuring the X-ray continuum of Ne plasma into three spectrally separated line-free windows. It was thus possible to achieve simultaneously both nanosecond time-resolved evolution and millimeter spatial resolution. This technique, the first experimental results and the comparison with the continuum emission modeled by collisional radiative calculations are presented.
