Approximate analysis of double limit cycle flutter and its bifurcation of an airfoil
Abstract
Based on experimental results, both equivalent linearization and numerical simulation methods are performed to investigate the double stable limit flutter characteristics of a two-dimensional wing with preloaded free-play nonlinear pitching stiffness. The stable criteria are given for the limit cycle region. The effects of preloaded deviation and speed parameters on the bifurcation plots of the nonlinear flutter system and the multicycle bifurcation properties are analyzed. Numerical results give the critical parameter values of bifurcation with reasonable accuracy.
