Indication of internal gravity waves in cloud layers on the basis of radio brightness contrasts of the atmosphere
Abstract
The possibility of detecting internal gravity waves (IGWs) in cloud layers on the basis of radio brightness contrasts of the atmosphere at wavelengths of 0.8 and 1.35 cm is investigated. Expressions are obtained for IGW amplitude, pressure variations, integral humidity, and absolute humidity. For the aggregate experimental data, the ratio of radio contrasts at 0.8 and 1.35 cm is 2.8, which is close to theory.
