Intracavity SHG in a pulsed chemical oxygen-iodine laser
Abstract
Intracavity SHG in a pulsed chemical oxygen-iodine laser is studied experimentally. Lithium iodate was used as a nonlinear crystal. Eight-percent efficiency of the radiation conversion into the second harmonic is obtained. Experimental results are compared with those obtained by numerical simulation. The findings show that the conversion efficiency can exceed 35 percent in resonators with the total transmission at a fundamental frequency of 1 percent in the case of low intracavity losses (less than 1 percent).
