Microgravity experiment on 6-DoF active vibration isolation system using MU-300 aircraft
Abstract
An active vibration isolation system is being developed to isolate acceleration disturbances in microgravity environment. Voice-coil type electromagnetic suspensions are used as the actuator in the vibration isolation system. Six degrees of freedom of the payload (experiment equipment) are controllable by this system. A microgavity experiment using MU-300 type aircraft was performed in September 1990 to examine the vibration isolation ability of the system. The experiment demonstrated that vibration disturbances in the aircraft were reduced less than 1/10 by using the active vibration isolation system.
