Dynamics of the auroral ionosphere deduced from EISCAT CP1 observations
Abstract
The dynamical coupling of the moderately disturbed auroral E region with the upper ionosphere and neutral atmosphere is demonstrated on the basis of CP1 (Common Program 1) measurements during the evening hours of 25 Mar. 1986. Model calculations are presented to describe the time variations of electron and ion temperatures. The special event under discussion seems to reflect conditions in the source region of a TID (Traveling Ionospheric Disturbance).
