A transputer-DSP system for ERS-1 (SAR) and Meteosat processing
Abstract
An outline is presented of the development of a demonstrator system. Using a PC-based workstation as a host, various digital signal processing (DSP) add-on boards have been assessed, resulting in the selection of transputer-DSP boards incorporating a ZORAN vector processor. Based on this hardware, a modular and expandable software design for the implementation of signal processing algorithms has been developed. Prototype implementation of the computationally demanding key-algorithms has demonstrated that such an approach is suitable for diagnostics and monitoring tasks.
