Abstract
On 14 January 1810 a destructive earthquake struck the small town of Mór, western Hungary (47.38°N 18.20°E). Pál Kitaibel and Ádám Tomtsányi of the Pest University studied its epicentral area and published the first known isoseismal map. A recent evaluation has shown that the characteristics of the 1810 earthquake are: focal depth 6.5-8.7 km and epicentral intensity 8.0 (MSK scale).
