A polynomial method for the calculation of the laminar incompressible boundary layer
Abstract
A new polynomial method for calculating the two-dimensional laminar incompressible boundary layer is proposed whereby a sixth-order polynomial is used to express the velocity distributions within the boundary layer. The unknown coefficients are determined by using an optimal approximation to local Falkner-Scan behavior to calculate the shear stresses. The resulting solution correctly predicts the boundary layer separation for blunt bodies.
