Contribution of parallelism to solving a load distribution problem in electric networks
Abstract
The parallelization of a load distribution problem in electric networks which corresponds mathematically to successive solving of linear systems with close matrices is addressed. A solution in a sequential framework is presented and a parallelization on several types of architecture (vector Multiple Instruction Multiple Data Stream (MIMD), massively parallel Single Instruction Multiple Data Stream (SIMD), and reconfigurable topology MIMD) is proposed. The target machines are studied and theoretically modeled. Several ideas for parallelization are considered. An interesting finding is that the best solution methods (i.e. the fastest) are different according to the parallel machine considered.
