A study of the effect of Kr-84 and (O-16)2 ions on the noise characteristics of YBaCuO microbolometers
Abstract
The effect of Kr-84 and (O-16)2 ion beams on the properties of YBaCuO microbolometers was studied experimentally with emphasis on the temperature dependences of noise and resistance in the temperature range 79-93 K and noise spectrum in the frequency range 10-50 Hz at room temperature. The experimental samples consisted of 150-nm-thick YBa2Cu3O(7-delta) films laser-sprayed on ZrO2 substrates. It is shown that the presence of a low-energy 'tail' in the O-16 spectrum leads to oxygen implantation and subsequent gradual degradation of the high-temperature superconductor film. Radiation effects due to Kr-84 bombardment, on the other hand, have no noticeable effect on the microbolometer threshold characteristics.
