A distributed database design for multi-control centre systems
Abstract
A generic data model of a distributed system is discussed. Some of the basic considerations which need to be applied to a single control center environment before widening the discussion to include multicontrol center systems are presented. Reference is made to typical operational scenarios relating to multicontrol center systems. The problems to be faced and overcome by the designer are outlined. Distributed databases are complex to design and manage, and their use requires careful justification. Resilience and survivability are common justifications for high availability control systems; such conditions are synonomous with multicontrol center systems.
