Measurement of the phase difference between the output beams of two coupled CO2 lasers
Abstract
The phase difference between the output beams of two coupled CO2 lasers operating in the coherent mode was determined experimentally. The measurement results are in qualitative agreement with calculations based on a point model of two coupled lasers allowing for the dynamics of gain coefficient. Expressions are obtained which relate the phase difference to the resonator length mismatch and transmission channel length. The expressions may be useful in the design of a phased laser array and a matching optical guidance system.
