Analysis of the behaviour of a current-fed multi-stage voltage multiplier with capacitive output
Abstract
The behavior of a five-stage voltage multiplier, fed by a series resonant converter and a step-up transformer, is analyzed. The converter acts as a current source at its output. The results of a theoretical steady state analysis of the multiplier in these conditions are reported. Design criteria of capacitor diode voltage multiplier diodes and capacitors are derived. The dynamic behavior is studied by simulating the voltage multiplier activity. A diode model developed for this purpose is described.
