The discovery of neutrinos from SN 1987A with the IMB detector.
Abstract
A burst of eight neutrino events preceeding the optical detection of the supernova in the Large Magellanic Cloud has been observed by the IMB detector. The events span an interval of six seconds and have visible energies in the range 20 - 40 MeV. Revised energies and reconstructed angles are presented and comparisons to standard supernova theory made.
