Dynamic characteristics of a dense plasma jet in the atmosphere
Abstract
The electrical characteristics of a plasma-dynamic accelerator with a gas filler are examined. The dynamics of a dense plasma jet in air at atmospheric pressure is investigated experimentally using high-speed photography and the schlieren method. It is shown that the pulsed injection of a dense plasma jet in the atmosphere leads to the formation of a strongly radiating plasma cloud which evolves, under certain conditions, to a stable long-lived toroidal or spherical plasma configuration.
