The modified-fluid-in-cell method to which adaptive mesh and multigrid were applied
Abstract
The compressible flow fields are analyzed, including shock wave numerically, the solution diverges because of the discontinuity of shock. If modified Fluid-in-Cell-Method is used, the discontinuity is artificially smoothed and the flow field is analyzed. Stability and accuracy of the solution depend on a mesh system in the analysis by the modified Fluid-in-Cell-Method. The algorithm is proposed in order to decrease the influence of a mesh system and the calculation time. It includes Adaptive Mesh Method and Multigrid Method. Using the Adaptive Mesh Method makes it possible to calculate the flow field without the influence of a mesh system. When a fine mesh is used to get a high accurate solution, many more steps and computational time are necessery. So the Multigrid Method is used in the present algorithm. Calculation of a supersonic flow field around a blunt nosed body is carried out. In comparison with previous methods, it takes less calculation time and good calculation results are obtained with respect to the shock wave and pressure contours.
