Limit of ergodicity in dipolar glasses
Abstract
Measurements of electric polarization P in the dipolar-glass-like system KTaO3:Li (partly already published) are reanalyzed in the light of possible nonergodicity. It is shown that the temperature T* at which the zero-field-cooled P exhibits a maximum as a function of T on heating is different from the glass transition-temperature Tg and that the E vs T* curve (E the electric field applied on heating) follows the De Almeida-Thouless equation. A better understanding of the role played by the time scale of the experiment is obtained.
