Determination of the Average Lifetime of Bottom Hadrons from Vertex Reconstruction.
Abstract
The average lifetime of B hadrons produced in high energy e('+)e('-) interactions was measured based on data collected with the TASSO detector at the PETRA storage ring. The method made direct use of the decay distance of the B hadrons and did not rely on b(')b event enrichment. Vertices were found and the decay distance was measured to the interaction point, approximated by the beamspot. The lifetime was then derived by comparison to simulated events. This method yielded.
