Prediction of the attenuation of radio waves in the range 10-100 GHz at horizontal and oblique paths
Abstract
A computational model is presented for predicting the mean statistical probability of radio wave attenuation in rain. It is shown that the mean statistical probability of attenuation can be calculated even for periods shorter than a year, making it possible to obtain monthly predictions of radio wave attenuation at paths. The adopted model of a rain cell can be used for developing an algorithm for the short-range prediction of the expected attenuation at horizontal paths.
