Determination of the parameters of a parabolic model of the ionosphere from measurements of a short-wave signal field near a caustic
Abstract
Variations of short-wave signal parameters near a dead-zone boundary were investigated using the highly directional antenna of the UTR-2 radio telescope during sunrise and sunset hours. A parabolic model of the F-layer is used to solve the inverse problem involving the determination of the time dependence of the critical frequency. The results obtained agree well with the ionospheric-sounding data.
