Occultations by Pluto
Abstract
D. Mink, Center for Astrophysics, has updated the published predictions (Mink and Klemola 1985, A.J. 90, 1894) on the basis of measurements by A. Klemola and E. Harlan, Lick Observatory, of two new plates. Times are still uncertain by +/- 10 min. The occultation P4 should occur on 1986 Apr. 30d12h00m UT and be visible from Hawaii, Japan and the coast of China with a maximum duration of 2 min (assuming a radius of 1500 km for Pluto). The occultation P5 should occur on 1986 June 22d01h35m UT and be visible from South America with a maximum duration of 4 min.
