Manned spaceflight trajectory operations: The differences
Abstract
Manned and unmanned flight dynamics operations for past and present United States spaceflight projects are compared. Capabilities for attitude determination, orbit determination, and orbit prediction are reviewed. Space Transportation System flight dynamics operations are documented, including ground and onboard attitude determination, attitude maintenance and prediction, ground and onboard orbit determination, orbit maintenance, and orbit prediction. Operational aspects of manned spacecraft flight dynamics problem are contrasted with those associated with unmanned projects.
