Increasing the working voltage across chains of Josephson junctions
Abstract
A method for constructing Josephson arrays proposed in earlier studies (Kautz, 1986 and Niemeyer et al., 1984) is briefly reviewed, and its disadvantages are pointed out. A new method is then proposed which makes it possible to increase the operating voltage across a Josephson array. The approach proposed here is illustrated by experimental results for a Josephson array consisting of five Nb-(Nb oxide)-Pb(In) tunnel junctions.
