Very-Long Photometry of Hz-Herculis = HERCULES-X-1 and V1727-CYGNI = 4U:2129+47 - Active and Inactive States
Abstract
Very long-term photographic monitoring of X-ray binary systems HZ Her=Her X-1 and V1727 Cyg=4U 2127+47 provided data on their long-term evolution and behavior. The long-term behavior of both objects is similar, showing drastic changes of luminosity between active and inactive states, suggesting that the physical properties of both systems are analogous. The significance of long-term optical monitoring in X-ray astronomy is discussed.
