Design of a robust missile controller by vector performance optimization
Abstract
A controller design procedure based on optimizing a vector performance index is applied to the problem of robust missile control. For the design the nonlinear missile model is used. Six controller designs are performed which are different either in the chosen design direction or in the underlying controller structure, respectively in the starting values of the controller coefficients when the same controller structure is used. According to the applied controller design procedure, the design results are found very systematically, where all design specifications are satisfied over a wide range of flight conditions without gain scheduling.
