Mapping of radio sources from VLBI data using the Maximum Entropy Method.
Abstract
A new hybrid algorithm for radio source mapping without direct phase information is presented. It is based on the Maximum Entropy Method (MEM). A review on this method and its performance is carried out. It is argued that MEM can be very useful in certain applications, in particular in the mapping of radio sources in VLBI. The performance and reliability of the algorithm are examined by means of test sources.
