Radioactivity of regolith in Mare Crisium.
Abstract
In the present paper, X-ray fluorescence and radiometric measurement data obtained from lunar orbit are compared with data of a laboratory analysis of a lunar soil column returned from the Mare Crisium by Luna 24. Specifically studied is the distribution of radioactivity in the surface layer. Data on the distribution of radio elements in the lunar regolith are analyzed within the framework of Th-U and K-U classifications of lunar rocks and in the light of possible processes of regolith formation.
