Synthetic natural gas production from peat
Abstract
The paper touches upon several areas relating to peat including its composition, U.S. reserves, mining and dewatering, environmental effects, and gasification technology, with particular reference to the ERDA/Minnegasco peat gasification program. Gasification test results show that peat is not only more reactive than coal, but it also has a several-times-higher tendency to form methane. Proportions of gas and oil yields from a peat gasification process can be varied significantly by controlling hydrogasification temperature.
