Plasma-stability region in the T-9 finger-ring Tokamak
Abstract
An experiment was devised to study the region of plasma stability in a finger-ring Tokamak, and it was found that in a conventional Tokamak, the stability region has three boundaries. Processes occurring on the left (low plasma-density) and upper (maximum current in the plasma) of the stability region are in general similar in conventional and finger-ring Tokamaks. Processes occurring on the right boundary of the stability region, however, are determined by a critical-density instability and are different for the two types of Tokamaks.
