Synthesis of an electrostatic electron gun with a large-grained control grid
Abstract
Using a paraxial approximation, the design of the electrodes of an electron gun with control and shadow grids is optimized. First, an axisymmetric macrogun is synthesized with natural potential on the ideal grid, followed by the synthesis of standard cathode and grid cells (the microgun which ensures the average values of parameters of the macrogun on the ideal-grid surface). The cathode cell is synthesized as a cathode, the shadow-grid cell as a zero focusing electrode, and the control-grid cell as the microgun anode. The propagation of microbeams in the macrogun regions is studied in detail.
