Airglow measurement outside the main region of an artificial polar aurora.
Abstract
The photometric observations described were carried out within the Franco-Soviet 'Fireworks' experiment involving the injection of high-energy electrons and a cold plasma into the atmosphere at a height of 160 km. An increase in nightglow intensity was observed beyond the electron injection region. Possible mechanisms of this phenomenon are examined.
