Study of Cu2S-CdZnS photocells and CdS 'spray' layers. A - Cu2S solar photocells fabricated from CdS-CdZnS double layers
Abstract
A feasibility study was conducted of double-layer photocells based on a Cu2S-CdZnS system, starting out with CdZnS-CdS double layers in which Cu2S forms at the expense of pure CdS. Current vs voltage and photovoltage vs illumination characteristics were taken for single layers, double layers, and photocells, with varied ZnS content and with illumination. Photovoltages higher than 0.5 V and photocurrents greater than 20 mA per sq cm are attainable after design optimization.
