Technology and practice of spectroscopy /2nd revised and enlarged edition/
Abstract
The work deals with the theory, techniques and apparatus of spectroscopy in the wavelength range 2000-10,000 A, and is almost exclusively confined to the field of atomic spectroscopy. Chapters are devoted to prisms, diffraction gratings and to various spectroscopic devices (monochromators, spectrographs, spectrophotometers, spectroscopes, etc.). Light sources are discussed in detail along with optical filters, and methods for wavelength measurement and spectral energy measurement are described. Spectrometers with high resolution and with time resolution are considered. There are chapters on the study of absorption spectra, on the spectroscopy of anomalous dispersion and on laser spectroscopy.
