Quantum statistics of massless scalar particles
Abstract
Previous results obtained in developing the quantum theory of a massless scalar field in a spherical de Sitter universe are used along with general principles of quantum statistics to construct a statistical model of a spherical Friedmann universe whose geometric properties are determined by a gas of massless scalar particles. It is proven that the energy-momentum tensor, which is derived from the field operator in a steady-state spherical universe, satisfies certain conditions imposed by the Einstein field equations.
