Some experiences on experimental testing of the intermediate accumulator in an astronomical TV-system.
Abstract
The paper discusses the storage of video signals by using an electrostatic storage tube as an intermediate storage element. A storage tube is described in which the video signal is stored on a dielectric reticular target and data recording is carried out in the fast-electron mode. A block diagram of this system is presented along with a detailed description of its operation. Results of observations of stars in several clusters are discussed which were obtained with the present system and a 70-cm Meniscus telescope. A comparison of the results with the visual luminosities of the stars in the V system shows that the maximum gain in penetrating capacity achieved with intermediate storage on a target is 2.2 magnitudes.
