Studies of the LMC stellar content. I. A catalogue of 272 new O-B2 stars.
Abstract
From plates obtained with the objective-prism astrograph (dispersion 95 A mm -1) equipped with an intermediate-band interference filter, at La Silla, we have detected 272 (#B2 stars belonging to the LMC. We give finding charts, 1975 equatorial coordinates, magnitudes and colours in UBV photometry, and spectral classifications for these objects. Among them, 105 are classified as B0 stars, 135 are classified as B1-2 stars, and for 32 stars, we could not assign any accurate spectral type. Nevertheless, these stars are confirmed as very hot objects by UBV photometry. We give remarks concerning positions of stars, spectral types, magnitudes and colours. In the appendix we shortly describe a semi-automatic two-channel photometer used for our UB V measurements. Key words: OB stars - Large Magellanic Cloud - UB V photometry
